Massive Action
Pocket Guide
The Massive Action Pocket Guide is a condensed take on three of Bruce Mau’s books: Mau: MC 24, Massive Change, and The Nexus. Created through a collaboration between Bruce Mau and his team, along with Columbia College Chicago’s Brand Design Practicum class, this guide is designed to give prospective clients and stakeholders a quick introduction to the ideas behind the books.
Our team of four designers worked together to curate the content, design the layout, and bring the project to life. Inspired by Bruce Mau's work, each of us selected the most important and relevant information to include in the guide. To pair with the text, we carefully chose imagery that felt aligned with the message. Throughout the process, we played around with different layout styles, from more structured and rigid approaches to looser, free-flowing ones. In the end, we went with the latter, aiming for a design where every spread felt like a unique, standalone piece.
Under my design direction, we included small black and grey boxes as a unifying design element, but every designer's ideas are woven throughout the guide. Below, you'll find a few spreads that I personally worked on for the Massive Action Pocket Guide.
